Dan attended St Paul’s School in London, and after matriculating, would attend Oxford University. He intended to be a musician at a young age, but he was also very interested in creating stories; along with his brother, he watched a lot of cult films growing up. In 1995, he got a part-time job at BMG interactive testing CD-ROMs, and the following year became a full-time employee. With his brother Sam he would then get interested in a DMA Design video game title called “Race’n’Chase” – the two would sign the video game to BMG Interactive and it would later become “Grand Theft Auto”. In 1998, when BMG was bought by Take-Two, the two brothers would move with the company to New York. They then founded Rockstar Games, taking influences from popular Nintendo Games such as “Zelda” and “Mario” in building their company.

He has since been responsible for the creation of all “Grand Theft Auto” games, most of which would become critical and commercial hits, and they would also win numerous awards. He is a producer too, and has written or co-written most of the franchise’s storylines. He has also done work as a voice artist, and they continue to work for Rockstar Games, with both brothers having appeared in Time Magazine’s “100 Most Influential People of 2009”. All added to his net worth.

“Grand Theft Auto” was one of the first video games to feature open world style gameplay; the story usually follows a group of criminals in their pursuit of riches and success. Other installments of “Grand Theft Auto” include “Vice City” and “San Andreas”. Other successful projects that Houser has been a part of include “L.A” Noire” which is a neo-noir style game that has players taking the role of an LAPD officer trying to solve a range of cases. He also handled “Max Payne 3”, a franchise which was originally developed by Remedy Entertainment. Dan is credited as a voice actor for the game “Bully”, which is another open world game that has players control a student and his efforts to rise through the ranks in school. They also released the open-world western video game “Read Dead Redemption”, which became very successful. All of their video game releases have had a hand in increasing their net worth. A few of their latest projects include “Grand Theft Auto V”, and “Red Dead Redemption 2”.

For his personal life, any relationships remain private – he has lived out of the celebrity spotlight, despite the success of the games he has produced. It is known that Dan is a fan of the film “The Warriors”; Rockstar would eventually make a video game version of the film. He cites the Nintendo 64 as an influence for his work.
