Quincy Delight Jones Jr., commonly known as Quincy Jones, is a famous American film score composer, music arranger, record producer, film and television producer, as well as a magazine founder. Quincy Jones rose to fame in 1960s, when he created music for a 1965 film called “The Slender Thread”, starring Sidney Poitier and Anne Bancroft. After that, Quincy Jones started receiving more offers to compose film scores, and he eventually produced music for “The Getaway” with Steve McQueen and Ali MacGraw, “Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice” starring Natalie Wood, and “The Italian Job” to name a few. In the university, Jones met Clint Eastwood with whom he planned to join a college band. However, Jones quit the university and went on to study at the Berklee College of Music instead. Quincy Jones did not graduate from the college either, as he quit in order to tour with a famous percussionist and pianist Lionel Hampton. Around the same time, he started working on songs for such artists as Sarah Vaughan, Duke Ellington, Ray Charles and others. When Quincy Jones achieved mainstream success as a film score composer, he started to be given more job opportunities from well-known people in the industry. Throughout his career, Quincy Jones had a chance to work with Steven Spielberg on his famous film called “The Color Purple”, produced popular songs for Lesley Gore, and worked with Michael Jackson on some of his most successful albums.
